Most of the wood is Western Red Cedar. Any major timber supplier should have it although hardware stores do not usually. Most of the time it is reasonably expensive with it costing around NZ$800 for the boat. A major issue is lot size. Most places are selling to builders who order quite a bit. However, the following places are worth a go.
In Christchurch - Timpan CIty, Halswall Timber, Herman Pacific, Cedar Corp. Some of these are nation wide. The white material is White Pine or Kahikatea - should be able to get that anywhere. For the stations - I used particle board but next time I will use fibre board as it is cheaper and easier to work. If anybody from NZ asks you about using Rimu strongly discourage them as it is way to hard and brittle to make strips out of and I couldn't put a staple through it.
